COE Alum Tawnya Pringle Top Finalist for 2015 School Counselor of the Year Award

The College of Education congratulates Community Based Block and School Counseling Alum, Tawnya W. Pringle who has been selected as one of the five finalists for the 2015 American School Counselor Association (ASCA) School Counselor of the Year award.

The School Counselor of the Year finalists are reviewed by a panel and judged on several criteria such as creative school counseling innovations, effective counseling programs, leadership skills and contributions to student enhancement. Candidates are nominated by their state school counseling association.

All School Counselor of the Year finalists will visit Washington, D.C. in January 2015 for three days of celebratory events. The honorees will have meetings with their members of Congress, attend a congressional briefing and be formally recognized at a black-tie gala.

We are extremely proud of Tawnya for all of the work she is doing for the students and families she serves!  Congratulations on this important recognition from the ASCA and we thank her for exemplifying the wonderful difference school counselors can make!

Tawnya is a School Counselor at Hoover High School in San Diego, CA and is also a lecturer in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology at SDSU.
