Faculty Monty Award
The College of Education’s own Dr. Carol Robinson-Zañartu will receive the SDSU Alumni Association's Award for Outstanding Faculty Contributions to the University, nicknamed the “Monty.”

Nominated by a faculty member, Robinson-Zañartu’s nomination was forwarded by COE’s Honors and Awards committee to the Faculty Senate. The Senate chose to recommend Robinson-Zañartu for selection, prompting President Hirshman to announce his awarding of the faculty Monty to the active Professor Emerita.

Robinson-Zañartu’s giving history includes countless gifts to the Department of Counseling and School Psychology and to the College of Education. She is a national leader with a deep commitment to children and youth, cultural and linguistic diversity, and the preparation of school psychologists and counselors.

“Dr. Carol Robinson-Zañartu has established a 35-year record of distinction at SDSU,” the Honors and Awards Committee said in a released statement. “She continues to write, engage in research, present at professional conferences and direct federal grant projects.”

With a distinguished resume at SDSU, Robinson-Zañartu has served as a professor, department chair, school principal, school psychologist and high school teacher over the span of her professional career. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the International Association for Mediated Psychology, and is former President of the California Association for Mediated Learning.

Robinson-Zañartu will officially receive this award when SDSU staff and faculty reconvene at the All-University Convocation on August 20, 2015.
