Dr. Andre Branch, an Associate Professor in the School of Teacher Education, organizes his Guatemala trips each year as part of his Guatemala Opportunities for Learning across Distances (GOLD) program. Students who attend are able to gain hands-on experience working with children at the Patalup primary school in Chichicastenango, Guatemala.
Prior to the trip, Dr. Branch was able to secure the large donation of laptops for the students and teachers at the school. Students on the trip were also able to assist in the use of the laptop equipment, as well as everyday school activities.
During the trip, Dr. Branch and his students were also able to enjoy many other cultural activities, such as market excursions and nature hikes. The College of Education is proud of his work with distance learning and his dedication to showing students the value of education, no matter where you are in the world.
