Staci Arnold, a San Diego State University (SDSU) alumna, is the new principal of Lakeview Elementary in Lakeside.
“I am thrilled to be principal at Lakeview,” said Arnold. “I am privileged to call Lakeview my home as I have a strong connection with staff, students and the community.”
Arnold is a 3-time Aztec alumna. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in child and family development in 1993. A year later, she received a multiple-subject teaching credential through SDSU and followed that with a master’s in educational leadership and an administrative credential in 1999.
Arnold has been an educator for almost 22 years and has taught every grade level from kindergarten through 6th grade. She has taught in several districts, including, Chula Vista Elementary School District, Coronado Unified School District and Alpine Union School District before making Lakeview her new teaching home.
“I love coming to work every day surrounded by amazing kids, fantastic families, inspiring colleagues and a supportive administration,” said Arnold in her message on the school’s website.
Arnold lives in Alpine with her husband and her four children. Three of her daughters attend Lakeview.
“Don’t we all want the BEST for our children?” exclaimed Arnold, who enjoys sunny afternoons, being outdoors with her family, and, although rare, quiet moments with a cup of coffee and a good book.
Arnold shared the good news of her new appointment with her former instructor Elinor Nory Behana, now a lecturer in the College of Education’s Department of Child & Family Development.
“[Staci] is well respected and loved by the teachers and parents,” said Behana, also a grandparent volunteer at Lakeview. “Everyone there seems very happy she is the new principal!”
College of Education Dean Joseph F. Johnson, Jr. congratulated Arnold for her many accomplishments.
“We are proud of your success and are excited about the positive changes you will influence for the children at Lakeview Elementary as their new principal,” Johnson said.
