Online Graduate Programs in Education 22nd in Nation

The two College of Education online programs in education have been ranked 22nd by the U.S. News & World Report.

The Online Master of Arts in Teaching and the Online Masters in Educational Leadership achieved high scores from the publication in several factors, including faculty credentials, graduation rates and reputation.

Four COE Students Honored at Research Competition

Four College of Education students were recently honored for their research presentations at the San Diego State University’s Student Research Symposium 2017.

The Student Research Symposium is a two-day event recognizing the outstanding academic achievements of SDSU students.

The SRS provides a public forum where SDSU students present their research, scholarship or creative activities. Contestants submit an application to present either preliminary or completed results from their original research or creative activity.

Student Success Fee Award Winners, Spring 2017

The College of Education (COE) had eight proposals selected for funding in the 2016-2017 Student Success Fee Academically Related Programs process.  Since Fall 2014, a portion of this fee (10%) is dedicated to support enhancing student success at the college level through expanded academic related programs.

Dr. Starck Honored with 2017 Bayard Rustin Award

Last month, Dr. Tanis King Starck’s efforts and dedication to promote equality were recognized with the 2017 Bayard Rustin Lifetime Achievement Award.

Aztecs for Education Co-Sponsors Educators Rising Event

Aztecs for Education (AFE) co-sponsored the EdRising Conference at SDSU on February 3, 2017. Dr. Virginia Loh-Hagan serves as its faculty advisor and is faculty in the School of Teacher Education. AFE members presented two sessions: Building Community and Building Teacher Presence. They also hosted two campus tours, participated in a panel about becoming teachers, and hosted a table during the fair.

President Elliot Hirshman Ending Tenure at SDSU

President Elliot Hirshman has served as the president of SDSU since 2011. 

San Diego State University President Elliot Hirshman announced this morning that he has accepted the presidency of Stevenson University in Maryland. His last day at SDSU will be June 30. Hirshman has served as the president of SDSU since 2011.

“The last six years have been the most extraordinary period of my and Jeri’s professional lives,” Hirshman said. “The opportunity to work with the dedicated and talented students, faculty, staff, alumni and community supporters of San Diego State has inspired us, and it has been a privilege to contribute to the growth and development of this great university.”
